AODE to C6.. How hard?
Transmission shop said they could build me a c6 that would hold up to my engine and that it would be cheaper than an AODE.. Quoted me 500 plus stall converter... So how hard would it be to put the c6 in a 1995?
As far as bolting in a C6, I don't know but you'd be losing lots of gas mileage for sure.
You will also need to reprogram your ECM since it is designed to run with an electronic transmission.
Also.....not trying to sound negative, but $500 is awfully cheap for a built transmission. Suspiciously cheap to be perfectly honest. The parts alone will be more than $500. I'd be very suspicious of that if I were you.
Have you done any C6 research to see what common upgrades are done to C6s to hold higher HP and what those parts normally run?
A properly "built" transmission is going to have way more done to it than just new clutches. What upgrades will your builder be doing to the trans?
I totally get that you are desperate for options that won't cripple your wallet. You might just want to get another used 4R70W and take it easy on the gas pedal until you can get the $ to build it or buy a built one. It doesn't look to be a winning situation either way, but that is what I'd do if I were in your shoes.

3 speed is fine for around town or out in the bush, but if you spend any time on the highway the extra money for a 4 speed will come back at the gas pump. And it will be the right transmission for the truck. And you won't have to worry about the mount or the yoke, or figuring out a vacuum line or a kickdown setup or ......
