I've had this issue on my 95, but that was when my review mirror fell. This shorted the harness and blew a fuse. I'm not certain about the year of your tranny, but does it have a vacuum valve? There would be a vacuum line running from the manifold back to the tranny if it did. I had an 82 Merc AOD where the hose came off and it didn't like that too much.

You have to have the vacuum modulator hooked up or the transmission will not shift. I do not whom told you do this but you should have put the e4od transmission in not the aod. The e40d is an electronic shift and the aod shifts by a TV cable.

The 92 does not have the fitting on the back of the throttle body for the vacuum line you need. So you may have a choice change the entire throttle body or put the right transmission in the truck.

Okay need to correct myself it may work but the TV cable is not correctly done and are very touchy. Make sure you have the TV settings correct or you will KILL the transmission.

DO NOT DRIVE IT WITH THE TV INCORRECTLY SET OR NOT HOOKED UP AT ALL!

clickclickracing.com is a great source of information for the AOD.

My friend knocked my mirror off one day, the next day it shifted VIOKENTLY. Sucked horribly. Didnt blow a fuse as far i know, but replaced the ecu and all is well now
