Default Any Ideas?

Hay yal, been snooping around for a while, and now its time for my first post. Just bought my first F-150, have had several rangers over the years, but my first full size. So here is the scoop, `93 F-150 XLT 5L 4x4, 47k origional miles mostly well maintained. Grandfather owned, sold to grandson 2-3yrs ago. Grandson (gs) decided to make some mods himself, and thats when the trouble started. First was a 4in lift kit, with 33x12.5x15`s for a sweet look, but handling is a different story. You can turn the wheel @ 1/4 turn before the wheels start to correct. Moving on, gs cut the Y out of the exhaust and put straight pipes with cherry bombs on, not the best sound in the world but more agressive than factory. Now the truck has no power, hard starting, you can push the gas all the way to the floor and will only down shift if going level or down hill. When tranny shifts into overdrive and you still have your foot on the peddel, the whole truck starts to shake, feels like a bad U-joint. Had the truck to my local alignement/suppention specialist, he said things on his end were good to go. Truck gets 9MPG, and going uphill sucks. Also when I was changing the 1yr old water pump (that was leaking), found the air box, filter and intake tubes had a lot of oil in them. I know this is a long post, but trying to cover all the bases and not leave out any info. Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated. Jon

well from the sounds of it (when you floor it and it starts shaking) it almost sounds like your transmission is slipping, causing the shaking. i know mine went out the same way and it felt like the truck was going to fall apart.

Hard starting and no power, sounds like the timing chain jumped a tooth.

hard starting and no power could be a lot of things though. and with a lot of oil in the air box, I'd look check the spark plugs to see if they're fowled, and check to make sure all cylinders are firing. and definitely check the timing too.

Should check the axle code on your driver side door jam. The 33's with 3.08 or even less common 2.73 gearing could be some cause of what feels like no power? Axle code can be found searching here quickly enough or post it and someone will tell you.

Definitely not the cause of good chunk of troubles you have but it could have a hand in it.

Axel code is 19, according to search is a 355. Changed air filters, cleaned and regapped spark plugs. Seemed to run better, now it will down shift even going uphill. Power is nothing to write home about. Does removing the cat. on an EFI have anything to do with it?
