Another starter
Yep, that's right. I know I just changed it two weeks ago if that. Started the truck when I left for work and the starter stuck then crunch. Drove to the store to fill my drink and when I came back out and tried to start it nothing but a click. 20 or so clicks later and I pulled the starter. I guess that would make like 6 or so starters. Eh, whatever.
I change them like I change my oil, once a year. It's all because of my starting problem. This one was because the flywheel ate up the starter when it wouldn't release.
Is the flywheel warped? also, if it matters, there might be a slight spacing difference between man\auto starters, this is true on the older starters, grease the sprocket on the starter, install, turn over motor, remove starter, see where the teeth catch, if they go all the way or just catching, or try a small racing starter, they are brand new for about $150.00. A starter from a 302 should work.
Everyone seems to be in agreement that my battery cables are my problem. The positive melts and arc welds the solenoid together so it doesn't stop cranking. I thought it was funny that my 2 week old starter died. Well sorta funny.
