The new alternator is dead..

So I'm fitting A GM single wire alternator instead (has internal regulator)

This means I can remove the original 33 year old wiring to the alternator along with the redundant factory EFI wiring at some point in the future

You'd be better-off installing a common, reliable, high-output Ford 3G alternator, which is cheap at any junkyard. It requires 2 wires: the output cable (to the starter solenoid) and the turn-on (from the ig.sw. via the dash ALT/battery light).

Snag this harness:

Abandon (tape up) all the original alternator & VR wiring, except the LG/R which should be connected to that one. So it's nearly PnP.
