Default advanced the timing today

Well as the title says I advanced the timing in my 95 302 from 8degrees to 14 maybe 15 degrees, I have little if any power gain from that... yall got any ideas for a little more hp and mpg for cheep.

did you upgrade the whole ignition system or just adjust it? because the whole point of advancing the timing is so that your new high grade/powered ignition parts can do their thing! running a higher degree with stock stuff wont help

X2, you need to upgrade the coil, plugs and wires also. and even then, if you're motor is old and tired don't expect it to run like a cobra

Did you remove the SPOUT plug before reading & adjusting the base timing? Did you replace the SPOUT plug after you adjusted the timing? If you did, 16BTDC with the spout out, should look like mid 20''s BTDC w/ the SPOUT plug in place! What are you showing w/ the SPOUT out & w/ SPOUT in? Gotta be mechanic error, or ECU is not adding computer advance (not likely)!

I did remove and replace the spout... and I am starting to think that it did add some power, because I was towing my horse trailer today, and with this hose trailer before I advanced the timing i was barly able to run 65 mph, and today i was running 75 fairly easy. so maybe it was just me expecting too much, or the ecm needed to "learn" that the timing was adjusted

What is your timing at warm idle w/ your spout plug in place? When was the last time you seafoamed your combustion chambers?

Your supposed to check that to make sure ECU additional advance is being added (also rpm up the timing curve to see what you max at & and at what rpm, but I'd settle for just knowing your getting ECU additional advance at the moment) Also you've been muddleing along at 8 BTDC for who knows how long. I'de do 1/3 can of Seafoam though the power brake booster Vac hose & 2/3 can in the gas, but skip adding it to the oil this time.
