What does "MSD ignition" mean. Coil? box? Is your cap & rotor brass? Also, just as important as removing the SPOUT plug before checking or adjusting your base time, is replacing it afterwards. Otherwise, no ECU advance will be added, and you won't see any difference.

no not one off ebay im getting a hypertech brand performance chip its nothing amazing just gives me a little boost especially now that i have both intake and exhaust. it will also help my shifts be a little more firm and on time. I am a technician i work on cars for a living i would not waste my time on some 60 dollar chip off ebay. Oh and Ymeski56 i have Msd ignition coil new cap and rotor stock, and new 8.5 mm wires. and i reconnected the spout when i was done that would have been stupid of me. As far as an underdrive kit i'm not sure i will take that road and deff no supercharger at least not till i get rid of that old *** e4od shes got 230,000 on her

If you can't see any difference between 10 & 16 BTDC, somethings wrong. That is abnormal. Did you check timing, after the SPOUT plug was put back in? What is your timing at warm idle & timing all in (all in is base time+20(+-3))? Knock off the higher octane, A lot of it won't even get ignited & the residual will load up the compression chambers. Eventually, you'll detonate on the exhaust stroke.

To say i cant feel a diff is correct but to say i cant notice a diff would be wrong.
I can tell that at idle the rpm's which usually are around six hundred dont jump at all its very smooth and sounds great. The throttle response is much better now. So yes i can see here and tell a diff but there was no noticeable power gain. One theory about this is maybe i need like an msd multi spark box or something. But besides that im not to terribly worried about it Ymeski56 it did help and thats all i can ask for. Next up i decided im going for the under drive kit before the chip. All should be done this summer cant wait the the 4.10's

Pull a hill at 16BTDC, then set to 10BTDC, and pull the same hill! Then tell me you don't notice a very pronounced difference. If not, I would say you compression PSI is on the low side. Mine is 179-183 psi through all cylinders.

I side gap my plugs in of leu what I refer to as a "double tap box'. I contacted a Pertronix technician & told him I was running a 60K volt coil w/ base time at 16BTDC w/ Motorcraft nic plated copper cores that I sidegap to .056. (.044 is stock) He said I wouldn't have enough residual un-ignited fuel to warrant one, which it the purpose of the boxes. Also that it may actually prove detrimental , as the second firing, having nothing to ignite is unnecessarily redundant.

The fact that he talked me out of a sure sale (I had credit card in hand, & was only asking for a recommendation as to the best box for my application) I believed him. My next smog test results backed him up. The average HC (hydrocarbon) level for my yr/ engine is .14 PPM. My truck tested .01 PPM. The best results the smog tech had ever seen for my yr/engine.

I believe the truck axles are much wider.... The gears and differential will fit though....
