Don't know about the remote... Only has 150 hrs though.

I know this is getting of topic, but you have to use a suitcase with your ranger 8 for mig, right? Anyways, back on subject.

Yes that's right. But I have a 240 Lincoln mig in my shop for mig welding.
Mig is only good indoors anyway.
