I do not know how old it is . But it shouldn't affect the FPR

It has to be a fuel pressure problem . When it does it I smell raw fuel in the exhaust

In 1990 Ford changed the fuel system from a 2 pump to a single pump.

Try doing a leak down test on the injectors.

Just throwing a few things out there. ICM, Fuel injectors (if you test, should be 14 Ohms I do believe), PCV stuck open/closed

Look at fuel pressure on the injector rail. After running the engine at engine shutdown, pressure should drop no more then 5psi in 1 minute. This is per the Haynes manual.. ford manual says 2-3 psi in one minute. With this test we can identify if one of the injectors is leaking. If it fails the test, Haynes says to look for a rich or wet plug.
