Default 96 ecu

Has anyone on here messed around with an ECU re-programer? I'm not talking about a plug in to the DLC and play such as super chips or edge. I mean like the Quarterhorse from Moates. I"m looking to reflash my ECU with a performance tune that I can build and control as many aspects as possible via a laptop. My truck is a 1996 F-150 with a heavily modified 302. Thanks

If you reprogram, make sure it has a backup to stock parameters. You might be better with a regular tuner that uses the parameters the programmer has.

I won't need a backup I want to completely re-flash it. I've done the same thing many times with newer LS1s but I'm a Ford guy and just wish someone made a program to do it.

I messed with these a long time ago (anyone remember the Tweeker?) long before they were available commercially.

You have two choices -- learn a LOT bout tuning motors via a setup compatible with EEC-V, or find a tuner who can do this for you.

I deal with embedded computer systems all day long and I've little desire to spend several weeks learning a new embedded system, so I plan on having a local, respected, tuner do my setup on the race car. I recommend you do the same.

If you want to do this yourself, there are EXCELLENT resources and support on http://sbftech.com as well as other online forums. Oh, and pray you have easy (and cheap!) access to a chassis dyno with a wideband O2 meter!

Did you try one for a mustang? 96 had obd2\mass air, same basic system as a mustang.
