Default 95 spedo

Ok just put my 95 on the road and the spedometer doesnt work good. Pretty much anything over 30 the needle will swing all all over from one side to the other and stop occasionaly to the actual speed. Do i have to change the guage or cluster or is it something else or is it fixable without switching anything. And also my steering has a lot of play i can move the the steering wheel about 4 inches before anything actualy happens and it does steer a little harder than it should. The fliud level is fine but what else can i check.

Check the front end for play.but you probably need a steering box. And it probably is your cluster.but check the vss sensor just in case

You probably still have a cable, you disconnect from behind the speedo, pull it down so you can see the small cable sticking out of the center, get some needle nose pliers and pull it out. The way I lube them is clean off all the old grease and wind it up in your hand, put enough axle grease in your hand and feed it back into the housing the same time you are lubing it. Kind of a messy job so cover your seats and carpet. Should be back to normal after that. If it happens to be damages they sell universal kits at all the auto part stores.

The sensor is on the top of the rear diff. Check the connection, replace if you want since its not expensive. If you want you can get some gear oil and a diff cover gasket, open up the diff and check out the toner ring. At least check the sensor and connection though.

No problem. If you have one of those magnetic retrievers, the stick with a magnet on the end basically, run it along the inside and in the little trough on the bottom inside. Just to check for any metal particles or chunks.
