Default 95 351c.i.

Does my 95 F150 351ci. 4x4 have a MAF sensor? I can't seem to locate it. I've looked between filter box and throttle body. If it does not have one this truck has the same symptoms of a bad or dirty MAF sensor. What else could be the problem....low throttle stuttering, jerking like a miss, tad rough idle.

I did self test to retrieve codes today. KOEO...code172, Heated gas oxygen sensor indicates lean (Bank #1). Also with KOER...code172 and I also had a 538 code...not sure what it means exactly or what to do. The 172 is that the oxygen sensor where? 1995 f150 5.8.

95 only has one oxygen sensor, so no need to worry about bank one sensor one stuff. It is in a crossover tube right before the left and right sides meet on the y pipe.

I don't have anything on the filter box or anything between there and throttle body. I'm just not sure the 95 has one. Thanks on the sensor..I seen it.

I think the 95 has a MAP sensor - should be on the firewall near the a/c blower. You'll see a vacuum line and a wire harness going to it.

I wouldn't get too crazy and change the O2 sensor - it's telling you the system is running lean, not that the sensor is faulty. A new O2 will tell you the same thing, which is that you're chasing the wrong tail.

Running lean? Check timing - check fuel filter - check fuel pressure - recent tune-up?

'95 doesn't have a MAF, it has a MAP. 538 means operator error, you didn't do the engine running test correctly. You probably didn't turn the steering wheel or step on the brake, or didn't floor the gas pedal when asked to do so.

Ok, dealing with this 172 code yesterday I replaced plugs, wires, rotor, cap, TPS, fuel pressure regulator and cleaned the throttle body, installed new gasket. I also checked the EGR suction test looked like the flapper was working ok on the valve. Today went out and tested again. KOEO...passed, no codes. KOER...172 code only. My truck has a 117,000 miles on it I bought it when it had 80,000. Couldn't say if o2 ever replaced or not. Does anyone think this should be next replacement part? I don't know how or probably dont have what I need to check the fuel pump pressure.

I'd change the fuel filter before doing anything else. You can get a fuel pressure guage for $20-30 at your local parts store - it just screws into the shrader valve (looks like a valve stem on a tire) on the fuel rail.

Engine running lean, no idea if the fuel filter is clean or not, seems like the next likely suspect.
