Default 94 F150 problems

So my dad bought a 94 F150, and here is what the tranny is doing. If you leave it in D it will not do anything but rev up. If you pull it in second you can get it to move. It will shift first and second. You can put it in drive and after about 15 miles, it will go into D and OD. It wont stay in there for long, it stayed in OD for about 2-3 miles then it shifted back into second. My dad was unable to get it any faster then 45 mph. Is the tranny out? I read the TPS sensor is connected to the tranny, and so is a shifter selector module, I think thats what it is. I have havent ever had any issues like this with any of the 92-96 F150s I have had. It has 140k on it, but our work truck is a 95 with 264k miles and still going on the original tranny. I had a bronco with 230k and it was on the original tranny, we also had a 94 with 250k and original tranny, it slipped in OD, but not D. And my 90 model had 167k and it was on the original tranny. What do yall think? Also when you go to start it sometimes it starts, and other times you have to floor the gas pedal, and it will start right up. What could be causing theis? Thanks

There is a guide on here to check the TPS. Start there and see if it is bad.

Oh I thought it was going to be different from a 5.0 mustang we know how to test that. Problem I see is I could find it when I looked. Where is it located?

Underneath the throttle body. Should be right on the bottom when you take the hoses off the throttle body. Should see three wires that run out from underneath it. follow them to the plug.

You are welcome. No most people would not think to under the throttle body lol. Asked at the parts store myself to learn it the first time. Love Fords but sometimes they do weird stuff lol.

Yeah they are the Lightnings are weird too. The IAC is on the back side of the TB and you just about have to take it off to get to the IAC. I have big hands and it was impossible to get off.
