i needed a transmission for my 91 bronco. i found one on craigsllist and threw it in. every thing went well. only i dont have first gear or overdrive. if i put the truck in drive i think im starting in 3rd and the rest on the selector im starting in second gear. could this be because the trans is out of a truck that had a 302 and mine is the 5.8 and the computers are not talking? i have checked the linkage quite a few times and i know that it is right. any ideas?

Is it the same kind of transmission that you took out? Meaning did you swap an AOD for an AOD or an E4OD for an E4OD or did you swap one type of automatic for another?

 

yes they were the same. at least they had the same pan and electrical plugs

 

What trans? Fluids OK? Did it work fine in the donor vehicle? Hopefully this trans isn't messed up. If its the same kind of trans that you had before that part shouldn't be an issue, the computer should be able to use it fine.
