Default 89 trans question

I'm trying to find out for sure what transmission I have in my '89. I have tried searching the forum and online but nothing seems to match up.
The door jam sticker on my truck is a bit different the all that I could find on decoder sites; the trans code is in a different position (4th from the left / bottom) and the letter code is hard to read but looks like a I or a J. It is an overdrive trans with OD in the selector not a button (P R N (od symbol) D 1). Also, it is behind a 5.0 Any ideas?
I need to repair or replace the one I have as it is slipping completely out of gear in first if it is cold or under load.

..I only paid 1k for the truck to begin with(It's pretty rough).
Perhaps a different tack. I have a co-worker that is willing to sell me a 4-speed from an '87, everything included, i.e. linkage, shift lever, pressure plate, ect.for $200+my core. and I need to drop the trans to replace the rear main seal anyway. How difficult is that kind of a swap?

THAT SUCKS... i paid 1k for my white 92 Flareside that the only issue on it was the trans...

time=money... if you want to spend the money and time on that swap go ahead.. be easier to either find a used AOD or have it rebuilt..
as long as the truck is worth it.. mine was..

I love the truck...just not all the problems that came with it. I guess I'll have to shop some used ones and talk it over with the boss, she doesn't want me to ride during the winter but she has also heard me under the truck cussing at the previous owner 4 out of the past 6 weekends.
