Default 65mechanic 4x4 Build Thread

Okay okay, I've brought up so many questions to myself now that I've got all my 4x4 parts I figured I'd stop making random threads and just post on here and ask questions about the 4wd swap. So far I've figured out that Broncos have a little shorter wheelbase than the short bed short cab F150. So #1 I'll have to get the drive shaft re-sized. If anyone has the size that a normal 4x4 F150 drive shaft for a C6 (if it matters) should be it would help me a good bit. Also, unfortunately, the Bronco that I got the parts from is an 87....I found out that the hubs where different (top hat?) and that the parts were a little harder to find. Are these "top hat" hubs weaker? Just as good? Also the hubs that are on it are definitely not stock and say SuperWinch. Anybody familiar with that brand? Good? Bad? So, thats how this will start. I think if I stay strong and put some good hard work in her she'll turn out good. A little discouraged now but not beaten! Thanks for the help fellas. Don't think I could do this without y'all I'll be sure to post pictures of most if not all of the swap.

Hey I'm starting my swap on Wednesday, although you have a head start since I bought an entire truck and still have to take the parts out. I'll be following this thread to see how it goes.

Awesome dude, good luck. I would of tried to get a complete truck but my pops didn't want another junker sitting around the property.

My dad wasn't real excited either but as long as its out of the shop when he wants in there it's okay. Plus he doesn't believe I can do a 5 speed and 4x4 swap so I have to prove him wrong lol.

Any decent driveshaft shop will know how long to make it if you measure from the transfer case end to the rear end flange.

is your front end a 2.73? or are you swapping the rear to a different ratio?
