So my move from Bradley Co. Tennessee went well... Got to Tampa and noticed my oil pressure Gauge was way past the L.. pulled the dip stick and it was dry so I dropped the drain bolt an maybe an I really mean maybe a half quart of oil came out... pulled the filter which had nothing in it... put 6 qt of mobile 1 w/ motorcraft filter an my 300 with over 300,000 miles still runs like a f*****g beast!!!! My only question is when I'm in 1st goin off a red light and cruising in 5th around 45 or so it starts kicking in and out like struggling to keep the steady flow of power is that the distributor?

I drive 100 miles a day back and forth to work. I switched to synthetic in my 93 302 last year. I had been having issues with my Oil Pressure fluctuating. At stops it would drop all the way to nothing, and when I accelerated it went back to normal. Checked the oil regularly so I thought nothing different about it as it had been an issue for a couple months.

So I planned on changing the oil one friday. Stopped at advance and got all the supplies. Got home, dropped the plug, and not a drop of oil. Ran another 4-5 months before it started knocking bad, but I had recently(within 3-4 weeks) started working the truck really hard. Now it's in the garage with the motor out and a 5.8 ready to go in.

Had I not switched to synthetic I think I woulda been dead in the water long ago!

I Too was running Mobil 1.

Sorry just a short story. I'm not sure about your mechanical issue. Just thought I would share as I had a similar experience!

Royal purple is hands down the best IMO but in this economy who has $10 per qt for a truck that easily drinks 6 not to mention topping off between fluid exchanges

you guys should stick to non synthetic on those high mileage trucks if that's what you been running. switching over causes leaks I've heard.

that is true but if it was well taken care of its fine. I run full synthetic in my truck dose not burn a drop of oil never have to top it off and every oil change it comes out clean with just a slight browning going on in my truck the engine is immaculate i had to switch my oil pan due to rust and snapped this picture
i just rolled over 117k miles

I am also a synthetic fan. What I think is a good probable answer to your driving problem would be fuel. If the truck runs good through the gears and starts going south at cruse, I'm thinking fuel filter. Good luck.
