Default 6.33 mpg

I put Mickey Tompson MTX 31 10.5 15 on my truck recently and I'm getting 6 mpg this seams very adnormal to me any thoughts?
Before I had 235/75/15 and i got 10-11 mpg.
I need to increase this cause I travel with a boat and a camper in the summer. I'm looking for 6-8 ply tires right now and I'm wondering what size to get. Any sugestions? My trailer is about 5000 lbs maybe 6000 at the most and the boats are 3000 lbs. Truck has 138000miles.

Yes your mpg seems to be very low. Tires will definately have a effect but I doubt it would knock it down that low. How's the truck run? Fuel filter? When's the last tune up done?

Error code scan?

Needs the "Seafoam"?

Oil type - Synthetic (engine,trans & gearboxes)?

Timing bump/Iginition upgrade?

(all of the above can greatly increase mpg's)

.wow! I got nuthin after that!......wait, here's something.........and when you do the E/C scans, good chance an ETC code will show. 10-11 mpg w/ stock tires is it's calling card. 6 mpg sounds like an expensive mobile flower bed! And the .33? WUWT (whatsupwiththat)? Sure it wasn't 6.48?

Now something to consider after you put larger than stock tires on did you reset teh speedo to adjsut for the larger tires, becuase with bigger tires you are going to be spinning them less causeing the speedo to say less milage than you are really going, so might actually still be getting the same as what you did before you just dont know it cuZ your speedo is wrong, if you dont know how to reset it just search teh forum for speedo reaclibration and it should be all right there look for my post on it ive got a good detailed description

Good point, but on his truck, he'll have to replace the gear where the cable plugs into the tranny.http://www.transmissioncenter.org/Fo...eter_Gears.htm

You're right sorry i didnt see the year of his truck, if thats the case then i would say your definatly not getting 6.33 mpg your speedo is just not calibrated right for those tires

Because he didn't give the year. It's not your fault they make use guess 1/2 the time. His mpg sucks bigtime regardless! Right now, just slightly less accurately so! "And since I replaced that gear, my truck's gas mileage ,has never come close to sucking this accurately, since I've owned the truck!!!'

No i used my gps to calculate the MPG so its accurate. And sorry did the math and i came out to 6.33...
I put the info for the truck on my profile but i guess it doesn't print it here. sorry.
I have a feeling the cats are shot. The check engine light will come on when i have a trailer and I put my foot down. It seemed sluggish but the ring between the manafold and down pipe is missing now and with this leak it seams a little better.
I'll have to figure out the code thing. I did some reading up on how to do it. I think i'll probably screw it up but i'll try
