Basically you can whatever you want short of a cam and larger displacement in present trim. I have headers, full exhaust, pulleys, K&N FIPK, etc. I plan to do Lightning heads, Edelbrock truck intake, and roller rockers.

larger displacement is fine too as long as you either keep the BSFC the same or use larger injectors...

done it....

I've heard claims of keeping the same injectors, replacing the stock fuel pressure regulator w/ a adjustable and cranking up the pressure as a work around being done, however that sounds like that could be problematic also.

Default 1991 5.8 for Towing

Hi guys. just have a few questions. I own a 1991 F350 with the 5.8 mated to a ZF S5-42 5speed manual transmission. I do a lot of heaving towing all the time and I honestly think the acceleration is atrocious. I'm not looking to burn out but I need to do some simple mods to it to have some more torque and hp. I don't want to do major work i.e. bigger cams or anything like that because I put a new engine in last year, so is there any simple mods, bolt ons or add ons I can do to help? Maybe gt40 heads or some headers, different intake. IDK. help

I've done quite a few mods over the years and by far the best bang was from adding an RV type cam grind. I used Comp. The cam I have has slightly more lift but the real benefit is that the timing of it is designed to have power right off idle. The factory cam is more multi purpose, an RV grind is built to tow it moves the usable rpm band lower. On a new clean motor changing the cam isn't a bad job at all.

Sounds like basic maintenance would do the most good for the money.

But that truck will never feel like a modern truck; especially with a heavy trailer.

Default 5.8L mods

ok, so when I said I tow a lot, I actually meant to say this is a legit tow truck. Its got a sling and wheel lift holmes hydraulic system. So its actually a commercial truck that I will use for years. I don't want to do major wngine mods because its already a new engine. I plan on getting a back up engine that I'll fix up and install a bigger cam, maybe some aluminum non racing heads, but for now, some light mods will have to do. so what can I do to give me a little more oomf?
