5.8L Headers
OK, another exhaust question...I have a 1995 F-150 2wd 5.8L. I want to install 1-Flowmaster 44, with 1-new magnaflow cat. I was thinking on going 3" all the way with split pipe out the back.
I am planning on keeping the truck for many years and I do not want to have to mess with the exhaust again.
My questions are:
1) Should I keep the stock headers or install new?
2) Is this going to create to much drone?, and
3) What the hell is drone?

Drone is caused by a resonate frequency that is generated by the muffler. This vibrates the whole exhaust system at the resonate frequency of the vehicle, causing the noise. Lots of high performance car manufacturers put spring-loaded weights on the mufflers to eliminate drone (the older Infinity Q45's come to mind). The Flowmaster exhaust for my suburban came with a resonance chamber in addition to the muffler specifically for this reason.
I got this info from another forum after doing a quick search because I didnt know how to explain it haha.

I know that with my current exhaust setup, at lower rpms going about 10-20 mph I get some drone and the plastic in my cab will rattle a bit and they are not loose haha, my truck has 2 1/4" straight pipe with a 7" tip and the tip is what is causing the drone at lower rpms, but I love the way it sounds

brand?
