5.8 head problems
I have a 95 f150 mark 3 5.8L 82000 Miles nice truck use it to pull camper mostly .It was running rough and my mechanic said #5 cylinder no compression. going to fix but want some more power pulling any ideas while apart better heads, bigger cam ect thank you for responding
If you have a roller block, get a custom cam.
As far as heads, you could go with AFR 165 (may have to drill out the holes for the head bolts) or Brodix ST 5.0.
If you want to keep using your stock rocker arms, you may need to swap the springs out to a spring that has 350lbs or less pressure.
You will also need hardened pushrods.

If you're pulling the engine to rebuild the bottom end (rings, hone/bore, bearings, ect) you might also consider a stroker kit. From what i've seen so far, parts cost about the same as a decent set of heads assembled.
If its just for towing, regearing the diff might be something to look at.
If you do go with heads and/or a cam, pay special attention to the lift/valve/piston clearances.
Qdeezie's 5.0l thread also seems super helpful for 5.8's as a lot of the dress is the same. I keep going back and forth between that and this 5.8 build thread as I plan my own build map.
