Default 4x4 problems

Hi everyone. Im new here. I recently bought a 1996 f-150 5.0 4x4. Im having some trouble with the 4wheel drive. Just wondering if anyone else has had a problem with theres. I think it might be my hubs but not too sure.

A lot more information is needed. Manual lockouts? Push button 4x4 or not? What kind of problem are you having?

They are manual locking hubs and its a push button 4wheel drive. Im trying to think of a way to describe how it feels. And after the truck didnt feel right i went to unlock the hubs and i noticed the one on the passanger side wasnt fully engaged after i used the truck in 4wheel drive

Try it again and make sure you have them all the way engaged. How many miles on the truck? Might be time for new ones anyways.

Im going to try it again. And i have 185,000 miles. The truck runs really good, starts with no problem. I use it everday.

You may need new lockouts. Did you buy it new or used? You get what you pay for with lockouts. I would never buy a cheap set and expect them to last any amount of time past the end of my driveway lol.

Those aren't bad at all. Have a set on my '79 bronco. Lockouts are the parts you turn to make the 4x4 work. The little selector switch you turn for 4x4 before pushing your button.
