Default 4x4 help needed

I have been having trouble getting my 4x4 to lock in. I have the push button and manual locking hubs. When I press the push button I hear a clicking noise on the passenger side and when I lock the hubs in I cab tell that they're going in but for some reason 4x4 will not come on. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Any weird noises? How are you determining that 4x4 isn't on?

No weird noises. My 4x4 has a light on the dash and beside the button and neither light up.

Put it up in the air. Observing safety precautions, engage it and see what turns when you put in gear. Also, mine is a manual bit isn't there a fuse protecting the 4wd solenoid circuit? Maybe a good idea to check for a blown fuse before getting to carried away.

Fuse for 4x4 is tied in with other instruments. Those instruments work so fuse must be good.

The electric shift motor on these years of trucks are prone to failure!
Get someone to push the button well you watch to shift motor on your transfercase.

Is a shift motor an expensive fix?
