I just re-read this and caught it....

the 5.0 has a Larger, FASTER moving pulley not slower...

beings its 8inches in Diameter versus the 6inches of the 300-6 that means the 5.0 moves the belt that many more inches in one revolution than the 300-6

its just like a bicycle... the size of the Drive gear versus the driven gears

my bracket has a mounting hole for 12 o clock but I was wondering if this 3g alt would work, with the same exact pulley I have on.

It seems to have the same mounting positions as the one I have now but I am looking for more of a 130 amp if anyone knows where to find an offset 3g alt that will work for the 4.9l

Thanks and hope the swap goes well ranger!
A 3g 130amp alternator was a factory option for your 94. Autozone, Orielly's, whatever parts store is nearby should have it or be able to order it. The whole purpose of most of the 3g threads is what kind of vehicle can I get a 130amp 3g off of at the salvage yards. That's where you need to know what a 130amp looks like and how it mounts to recognize it on another vehicle.

In my case, I'm a cheap SOB and didn't want to spend $100+ and got a 130amp 3g at the salvage yard for $12! Lol

No worrys on the hijack. My understanding is your truck is already wired for a 3G (3rd Generation) alternator. Although the charge cable isn't as big. It looks like your year truck had the 75 amp with the 2 and 6 clock mount holes. It sounds like you want to up the output to a 130a. Take a measuring stick and measure distance between the holes at 6 and 12. RJM sells a 7" and 8 1/4" pivots and I would think your a direct bolt up other then your charge wire you may want to upgrade. Another option would be to call RJM, Ryan doesn't do well with emails. See if he can make you or sell a 130A with 6 and 2 mount holes.

Side note: good luck on the bow hunt, October is coming fast. Im going to give bow hunting a try first time ever this year. Here in Texas crossbows are allowed so I'm going to try one out. Its not pure bow hunting (for the purists out there) but close.

I was thinking a 130a with a 2 and 6 mount could be found for the 94 but the highest I could find at AZ and Rock was 95a.

Theres another reason the the 3g threads, us 2g guys are always trying to figure out how to wire it in there. I think its pretty easy though. But yea, most guys are looking in the yard for a deal and I don't blame them. So it pays to know exactly which vehicle to get one from. I don't feel like going through all that, nor do I have the time and I wanted 160a so I got mine from RJM. He is pretty highly regarded over at FSB, so I'll support a forum vendor.

I hope your hunt goes well! I got out of state Montana tags, so I have to get my truck ready to travel a few hundred miles from my house so I can stay down there for a week.

And I will look into the salvage yard stuff, $12 sounds great! Haha

I am going to measure the 12 and 6 o clock holes but I am sure it is 8.25", so Would the best way to deal with the pulleys be to just swap them out?

I think the pulley comes off easy with an impact gun..Otherwise it might be a bit of a battle. Should be a direct swap.

I envy you Montana should be a great hunt. I have an Iowa slug gun hunt in december, but we will be going in my bro's Ram..

I searched autozone for 94 4.9 alts and there were 130's and 95's. Never seen a 75 for the 94/95. Edit,.......the 75's aren't 3g. The 3g has internal cooling fans.

Slugs are a lot of fun to hunt with too, my buddy has a scoped 870 and got a nice 5 point elk two years ago.

And I currently have a 75amp 2g with external fans

Ok,,, I did the mod today, here are the pics with explanations:
Here's battery volts

Here's 2G volts at idle

Here's 2G volts with lights, AC and blower on high

Here's the stuff

Remove the battery-always disconnect negative first

Here's the fire hazard - say goodbye..

I just took it all out, harness and all

Test fit 3G, using 6 o'clock and 12 o'clock mount points

Make sure the serp goes on and it does.

I couldn't get the lug on so I took the alt out to see why, I had to clearance the lug to get it to fit. I had read about this in other threads.
