Default 302, huge loss in power

hey all,

finally getting deeper into this truck (89 f150, 5.0) and I'm having an issue with the engine losing power up hills. As I start to climb, the engine and road speed drop steadily and doesn't respond to me giving it gas all the way to around 50% throttle (right before it would downshift). however, if I press the gas and it downshifts, or i shift from OD to D, I have no problem picking up speed again. This seems to make itself readily apparent when I'm driving to and from work, where the speed limit is between 55-65 and there are some short hills as well as longer grades.

the previous owner stated this loss of power occurred after they switched the rear fuel tank, in tank pump and high pressure pump.

Actions taken:

engine is giving code 11, should be fine
TPS just changed and checked
new fuel filter installed
air filter is clean
spark plugs looked ok, no odd color or buildup

anyone have an idea?

Check fuel pressure & timing. Does the temp go up when the symptoms occur?

Temp stays low, to the left of the n. Will check timing and fuel pressure today. Could it be running too rich?

could be, if your O2 sensor is stock or you know it has some miles on it, replace it.

fuel pressure reads 43 psi engine off, 37 psi engine running. checked map sensor and apparently it's the type that needs a tach (stayed at 2.5 volts off and on vacuum). haven't checked timing yet, but will post when i do

also, it's been dying and extremely hard to start several times, but only on the rear fuel tank. thinking it's bad gas (sat with a 3/4 tank for several months, if not a year).

if you think you have bad gas, run some seafoam thru it.
