What you are probably experiencing is when a sensor is out of range the computer on the truck goes into "Closed Loop" or basicly what GM used to call "Limp home mode".

Here is how it works:

When you first start your truck your computer has a pre-set set of instructions that will allow your engine to run until all of the sensors come up to temperature and "in range".
This condition is called "Closed Loop" and you really need few sensors hooked up to run in this condition.

When everything is in-range, the computer goes into "Open Loop" operation and adjusts timing and fuel mixture for your operating conditions. The engine is at is most efficient in open loop.

You can drive around forever in closed loop, but your idle will be high as will be your fuel usage, and your tailpipe emissions will be high.

You will notice a significant decrease in fuel mileage when you are operating in closed loop.

Get us some codes, and post them here. We'll help you fix your truck. No Yoda dealership needed.

NASA has finally told America what everybody always knew. There were NO faults with Toyota cars. It was all a hate campaign to claw back some desperately needed market shares for the big 3, 2 of which accepted bailout money and now we have (GM) government motors, instead. And as always, the US-media jumping on the bandwagon, without a shred of evidence. It might be hard to believe all the "evidence" was fabricated but not so much that the Israeli Zionist Jews own about 96% of the media.

If only everyone understood how the CAN-bus system operates in how the accelerator pedal potentiometer is redundant. What I mean by redundant is there are two signal wires that intersect in the center of a complete pedal sweep representing an "X" on an oscilloscope. This way, when one or both signal wires are shorted together or disconnected, the ECM defaults the throttle body motor to idle, neutral.

Ah yes, the famous floor mats with a huge cut out for the gas pedal was even thrown into the mix when some people weren't buying the hype. When I want comedy, I don't watch a stand up comedian but rather the mainstream news.

This scam is no different than propaganda spreading like wild fire. Don't believe it folks, Toyota's are one of the most reliable cars for a reason, they haven't been bought out by the government just like Ford's. Can't really say the same about GM's!

Very nice of those folks who chose to die so the government could pull this scam.
