Default 3 pumps down to 2...

Ok so in light of the whole 3pumps on these trucks I beg the question.

What would it take to do away with the inline pump on the framerail and just run 2 pumps. I'd like to see 2 pumps at 255lph coming from the tanks and connecting at a T and onwards to the fuel rail.
I would expect this to be converted to a return style setup if they aren't already and have the switch in the cab turning on 1 pump or the other.

Lets see if anyone has done this or has some info on the wiring that may be required to run them like normal from the computer.

Well return style is just better IMO, especially for boosted applications.
2ndly if I'm going to go with a braided line setup I might as well eliminate a pump because there's no reason to have 3 to replace/diagnose when 2 would be just fine.

Honestly the computer issues is what I'm really after. Does the computer just turn on the pumps for priming/running or does it actually set voltage signals based on load to have the pumps push more when your WOT.

Off and on voltage stays the same. The fuel regulator takes care of fuel supply to engine with engine vacuum , the computer pulses the injectors.

So are u suggesting the setup is a return style already if the FPR is referenced with vacuum pressure?

I'm under the impression that the returnless fuel setups have the pressure governed by a variable signal from the computer.

Yes it has a return line. only thing going to the regulator is a vacuum line. The voltage going to the pumps remains a steady 12 volts

head to the scrap yard and pick up the parts off a 92-96 twin tank truck. get everything . then boom no worries about where to have hoses made, what fittings to use or any of that.

well I've never really worried about what lines to use. -10 feeds the regulator and -8 is for return. -6 feeds the rails. there is in-tank pick-ups with the bungs already on them for the lines. I'm probably just going to take the box off any ways for this deal. Could be a possible new tank with sump if I really decide to just do it once.

We have a local wrecker... not much to look at like down south and he just crushed everything in the yard in anticipation for the winter. I live right on the Alaska highway which claims alot of people/vehicles each year.
