Default 1996 I6 MAF Problem

Is there anyway to delete the MAF sensor or modify it to perform better? Mine always messes up when it is really cold and miss fires really bad. Driving down the road it will seem as if it is running on 4 cyl then I shut the key of and turn it back on and it will run perfect for about 5 min then back to the problem. It only does this every now an again. It will run perfect for a month or so and have this problem for a couple days and its back to normal. Any suggestions will help. Thanks

are you sure its the MAF sensor?

you can check by un-plugging it and running without it....

Pull the codes and see whats going on

What, exactly, does 'not reading anything at all' mean? Are you getting codes telling you that there is no fault (on all three sections of the test) or are you getting no codes at all?

I'm getting no codes at all. I'm gonna use my snapon scanner to see if it says anything different.

if you unplug the MAF and it runs fine but then still gets the issue its not the MAF... you got other issues...

Could be a power/grounding issue or a ECU giving up the ghost...
