Question 1995 Recall???

I just bought my truck a few days ago and the guy told me that there was a recall on the gas tanks that year. He said that there is a problem that when both tanks are full, the rear tank leaks because it overflows into the front or something like that. He said that a friend of his had his tanks replaced by ford, but he never took the time to take it to the dealership himself. I put 6 gallons of gas in the rear tank today and it was leaking when I parked it. Any truth to this recall story or did I just by a leaky tank.

Thanks,

Switch it to rear tank and see if it will show "Full". If so - it's a rear fuel sending unit problem

Do a web search for Ford Recalls, there should be a site that allows you to input your vin and see what recalls are pending on your truck. The gas tank recall is due to the pumps allowing it to pull from one tank and return to the other tank. If you took 6 gallons of gas you more than likely are not cross filling the tanks as most who cross fill can only put in less than a quarter gallon.

I put in six gallons but I think it was down to about 2 after drivinng 20 miles. The rear sending unit seemed to be accurate, it never showed full. It sounded like a funny cop-out to a leaky tank, I'll do some more research. Thanks for the advice
