Default 1994 recall

I put my vin at Ford.com in the recall section, just because I have only done that once before 2 years ago when I got the truck, and the below pasted recall was listed.

Can someone please tell me if this is in reference to the cruise control? Two years ago there was a recall on the 1994 F150's because the cruise control needed to be disconnected. I went to the Ford Dealer here and they did that.

If this is not in reference to the cruise control, then I need to know so I can call the dealer

Thanks in advance!

Vehicle: 1994 Ford F-150
VIN: 1FT

Open Recalls

Recall: 05S28
Description: SPEED CONTROL SYSTEM MODIFICATION

Next Steps
  1. Locate your local dealership to schedule a repair appointment or to obtain detailed part information, depending on the nature of the recall.
  2. Advise the service department of your local dealership of your open recall information:
    05S28—SPEED CONTROL SYSTEM MODIFICATION
  3. Set up an appointment to have the recall completed.

It's the same recall as before, they re-issued it and expanded the years and models affected. Why not call your dealer just to be safe? They don't disconnect the cruise control, they add a fusible link on the brake deactivation switch.

They didn't do that to my truck 2 years ago. I printed out the page, took it to the dealer and showed it to the service guy and asked to make an appointment. He told me he could it right now because it just needed the cruise control disconnected. He had me pop the hood, then he disconnected it and slammed my hood shut and told me I was good to go.

So, yeah, I guess I better call them

Thanks!

k, first of all, DO NOT ever go back to that dealership!

Second, is it possible they hooked up the fusible link? It takes all of 5 seconds, they disconnect the harness going to the brake master cylinder, plug it back into the new harness, then the new harness back onto the master cylinder, done.

Third, call a different Ford dealer, give them your VIN, they'll tell you if the recall was performed, if you're questioning whether or not it was in fact done, drive on up and have em' take a peek at it. Either way, it's free.

This is a redo of the original recall, someone carefully designed the fusible link on the wrong side of the circuit. They will replace the original harness with an updated one with the fusible link hopefully on the right side.

Thanks, both of you. I appreciate it. I will get it to a dealer.

But yeah, I am sure he disconnected the cruise control. It worked before I took it in and does not work now. And he said specifically it was to unhook the cruise control.

Yeah that was a makeshift job until the proper harness could be distributed to the dealers. I went through the same recall and they disconnected and removed the first harness that was put on the original recall.
