Got a CEL on but can't pull any codes using the jumper method. Truck cranks sometimes and sometimes it won't. When it does crank, it runs ratty, like it's to rich or something, and it won't take the gas. When you put it in drive, it won't pull off, but it will go in reverse normally. Either way, it backfires (coughs) thru intake when you floor it. I searched pulling codes and found where you guys say if codes don't flash, the computer is usually fried. Could that be this problem you think? If computer is bad, would truck even crank up??? Is there another way to pull this code ?
Sorry, this is a 91, F150, with 5.0 EFI, 4x4.
What years ECU will fit ? I may have access to another to try.
