Default 1990 Headlight Removal

I did a search and found plenty of posts on headlights but nothing on the removal. How do you remove the headlight lenses? Mine are yellowed/foggy and have water in them. I want to know how to remove them so i can replace or dry them out and reseal them. Getting the mosture out is my highest concern as I can always polish the foggyness away.

Bake them in the oven or use a heat gun gently.

You can pop em off with a screwdriver. Start up by the adjuster, jam a driver into the gasket, turn the screw driver, jam another one in about an inch away and turn, and the factory seal just falls apart. Works great, done it on 5 sets

Seems to be a great mystery. Every video I've watched includes the destruction of the original assembly. No help for me.

And he never got an answer for a seemingly simple question.

The entire assembly comes out as one piece including turn signal buckets. The two screws on the top need to be removed, but there are two more nuts that fasten the assembly to the core support that accessed from the back side. When I pulled mine I had to remove the battery and washer reservoir to gain enough room to get a 1/4" ratchet there. Be careful as the stud most likely will pull out or spin if the bucket is in bad shape. Got mine apart and ended up having to JB weld a couple of the studs back onto the bucket before reassembly.

If you have ever had to replace one you will know why nobody jumped right up and tells you how because it's difficult
I used to break the old adjusters
Then the assembly will come out and you can then replace the adjusters and lens
You can just twist the adjusters and they will let go of the headlight
However, when you try twisting them, there are tabs that need to be bent away from their retainer tabs in the holes
They break in the process has been my experience
So, I buy new aimers and then get started on the removal
Good luck
They were just as hard in 2015 when the OP was last here

Out of 6 aimers for both headlights, I used to be able to re use a couple
The rest would break
Good luck
