Default 1990 Front Brakes

Hey guys,
I'm new to this forum but am a firm beliver in them and use the collective expertise whenever I can.

I have a 1990 F150 beater, that normally lives at the lake and is just used to move the boat around. It's developed some pulsing in the front brakes, so I started to pull the rotors to have them turned, but I can't figure out how the carriers are mounted. It looks like some kind if pins are holding the pads in place, but the carrier doesn't seem to be removable. What am I missing?

I assume you mean the caliper. The two pins are tapped out and the caliper comes off. Yes, it may not seem that sturdy but it works.

Remember that the pins have catches so that they will not fall out, usually pressing in on one side will release that side so you can drive it out.

I realize this is an older post, but just to clear it up for me, I can tap out the pins from either? side and the caliper can then be removed? Like the original poster, I need to replace the rotors/pads. Thanks!

Yes, tap out from either side although from the outside is easiest. Pressing on them isn't necessary, they will just tap out. The pins have rubber inside which allows them to collapse in when you tap them out. Just did mine again tonight, once every year.
