My 95 is MAF and i got a few small things done to it that one would think should help with mpg... the engine is not swinging the fan and the underdrive pullies are suppose to help also and i go a K&N FIPK intake for free flowing air and no muffler to ease up on the backpressure howeve i know some back pressure is good... also a throttle body spacer but thats all i got done to the motor and it gets the same mpg as it did stock

My buddy with a 95 4x4 5.0 gets over 24 on the highway...coarse it is an MAF system too...all factory
I think it's been on a steady diet of 93 octane for a while.

Number one.......the TB spacer isn't doing a dang thing....and number two I always find it best to do the seafoam right BEFORE I do my tuneups for the simple fact that everytime I do and I pull the plugs they are a gunked up mess on at least 4 of the cylinders. So, even if you are seafoaming through the booster tube (which by the way will suck that can of seafoam dry so you don't need to pour anything in the line) I believe you are going backwards by clogging up your plugs. Just my experience and my opinion. Also, go ahead and do a new fuel pump as well. I'd also check the voltage on your TPS sensor by probing the green return wire...you should be reading .98v with the engine off key on. Yes, the paperclip trick will work and go ahead and do it. Go ahead and spend the 54 dollars on the O2 and change it out.....I bet that's some of your issue. Does your truck have any issues when you first start it? As somone already said.......I get the same mileage as them at 18/23. Which reminds me, what size tires are you running? Anything over stock size?

Back pressure is never good....the correct size exhaust pipe for your application however can increase/decrease fuel mileage on the sizing alone...

you want no more than 3psi at 4000rpm before the cats in the exhaust...anymore than this and there is a restriction and that hurts power...

dont get me started on how douchebag exhaust people say back pressure helps close the exhaust valves...especially when valves are mechanical actuated STEEL and the exhaust is AIR...

i cant remember what size im running id have to look again wen i get back in the area, im 90% sure they r stock size tires Yokohama Geolander AT/S which btw i stand by they r amazing in the snow on a 2WD and grab the road wet or dry... so change plugs again (jus did it a month ago), O2 sensor and do a timing bump. the seafoam idea dont sound like it will hurt... im going to try it anyway b4 i throw a new set of plugs and O2 senor at it. the truck has no problems what so ever, no hesitation, it fires right up, doesn't bogg down wen diving at highway speeds and it a small hill... no problem at all jus crappy mpg which fuel pump should i replace? I assume the high pressure pump on the frame rail? the tps isnt too old, i was having bad throttle response and shifting problems and that was the problems but ill check the voltage too, im about to order shorty headers and a magneflow hi-flow Y-pipe that has a single cat instead of the stock twin cats,.... should help a bit depending on how plugged the factory cats.... i really appreciate everyone's help on this site... 2nd, 3rd 4th ECT opinions r nice to have and nothing beats experience. after i get home next ill do all this and give a update.

Lucas injector cleaner in the gas, Seafoam into the power brake booster Vac hose, to clean the combustion chambers. A tune up should pick you up a couple of MPG"s. The Mod on this link is good for at least 2 more plus enhanced perfomance (VERY NOTICEABLE!) @ $150./ Less if you subtract the cost of the stock tune up junk you would have normally used. My stock 87'302 gets 18/23 basically w/ this Mod + a K&N drop in. http://fullsizebronco.com/forum/show...ht=timing+bump Don't miss the part about stretching your gap to .056. (approx.)
With respect to the timing bump, Would you suggest this on a rebuilt 302? I'm planning on rebuilding one in the new year, and love to pump out a little more power/mpg out of it. Should I do it after the break in process? Thanks.

'95 doesn't have the frame mounted pump, just one in each tank.
