That's interesting. How about some background:
Did the download initiate itself or did you request "check for updates" and it started?
What version was it before it started updating?
Did it complete an update?
Version after?

Mine did this as well until I created an account on the Ford Owners website (https://owner.ford.com/ ) and registered the vehicle to my account using the VIN. A day or two after the truck was registered to my account, the truck was able to successfully check for updates and I no longer receive that message. Although, no update was ever installed according to my Sync history on the website.

My truck has been registered with vin for two weeks on Ford Owner site. The only thing that I saw that was not filled out was current miles and average miles per day. So I checked it after and still showing the same. I'll give it a couple days and check again.

Known issue. Mentioned here and elsewhere: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/sync-...0/#post5709519

I don't think Ape's correct about the issue being related to control number. Sync only cares about version. It's just a bug. First make sure you have the latest Gracenotes installed. If that doesn't satisfy it then try a full cold reboot (try holding down power and seek forward together until it reboots, if that didn't work cut the power by removing battery, if that didn't work try master reset).

Or just ignore it, it's harmless.

It's a copy of the package JR3T-14G423-CA_87940. Which is not new. Every 'X' amount of times Ford reupload all 'latest' packages with a new index... for example:

package 3.0.18025 has different links:
JR3T-14G381-AL_102768
JR3T-14G381-AL_103276
JR3T-14G381-AL_103586
JR3T-14G381-AL_128658
JR3T-14G381-AL_128976
JR3T-14G381-AL_130554

same for 3.0.18093:
JR3T-14G381-AM_117055
JR3T-14G381-AM_128659
JR3T-14G381-AM_128977
JR3T-14G381-AM_130568

Dunno why....

Doesn't make sense unless they anticipate corruption of the load image due to software bugs, cosmic rays, etc. Seems like they could compare versions once in a while when wifi is connected and only load if versions are different or bad CRC. I wonder if they do any Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) to detect image problems? If so, is there a customer-reported error message? Wonder if the original poster has a memory problem?

I have never noticed this type of message on mine and have commanded "check for updates now" on several occasions (2016 F150, non-nav).
