No one has even attempted to answer the op's question. Will a 5.0 with tune, intake, and exhaust match the performance, mpg, and power feel of the eb? It's a realistic question for the person that likes the 5.0 but wants comparable performance of the eb. He didn't ask which is better or which one do you like more or which one he should get... he asked would a 5.0 with tune programmer exhaust be comparable. Now... someone answer THAT question.

I have the boss kit from 5 star. I forget the specifics but these two are a couple tenths difference stock. That kit adds about 50 HP so I would say it could / should take a stock eb.
My impressions are a whole new truck with the boss intake kit. If I'm not careful I bark the tires with normal light accelerations.

It's not a fair comparison.

The stock tune on these trucks is conservative, heck they speed limit them to just 96 mph, and they have them set up to run on knock-o-special gasoline.

In stock form, both the EB and the 5.0 get the job done, and my 5.0 is awesome with the tune.

Find a truck that makes you feel good, just to look at it and you'll be happy.

They're trucks. Throwing money at engines to squeak a tenth or two out of it 0-60 or quarter mile to keep up with another has no real practical use as a daily vehicle. You can change the sound and driveability to suit your tastes but what is the use a gaining one truck length in a drag.
Now if you want to talk about more towing power and torque so you can pull loads better up hills and cruise in 6th instead of 4th then think of this: you will spend thousands trying to get Ecoboost torque out of a 5.0. You will have to have power numbers in excess of the 6.2 to even come close to EB low end towing power.
You will have no warranty and probably less reliability than stock.
If you have the money and want a mega power 5.0 for hot rodding or off roading you may want to wait for a supercharger system to hit the market.

No thanks - LOL - A supercharged 5.0 would be a monster -

If you want to go tear up the track, don't get an F150 but a 302 BOSS

I think the OP has answered his own question. He knows the 5.0 is not as powerful as the Eco but due to availability, he is willing to buy a 5.0 if he can convince himself, or us convince him that if he does some mods, he will not regret his haste.

Go find an Eco somewhere or have the dealer bring one in.

Thanks for all the responses guys, just after my last reply one of the local dealers managed to track down a EB platinum with nav but in the wrong color. I was pretty set on a black with grey interior but this ones the white tricoat. Not sure what color interior, i didnt even ask but i told him i'll take it. So its a EB platinum, short box, with max trailer, and nav. Its coming in from another dealer about 850 km away and should be here next week.

Pretty sure i would have been happy with either engine but looking forward to trying out the turbo v6. Sure gonna miss that v8 growl though.

Enjoy the awesome new truck. Enjoy the quiet peaceful luxury of the ecoboost, not to mention some turbo sound.
