Default what's needed for a lightning swap?

I have a 99 f150 4x4, was curious what would be needed to put a lightning blower on? Or would be swapping out the whole motor be the better options searched the forum before posting and couldn't really find what I was looking for, guess I'm looking more for a parts list, seen a few blowers on ebay for a decent price just not sure on what else is all needed, thanks!

If you swap the whole motor you can run more boost because the lightning is all forged internals the stock 4.6-5.4 is not. Just my 2€

Was thinking that, but I don't have 5k to drop on a motor right now really not a whole lot of places around here that have lightnings in a junk yard. Just kinda want to get around parts list together so I can price out what I'd need

The lightning motor is NOT all forged. It is lower compression but it's not ALL forged. The rods are the same as a N/A.

You will need:

Airbox
90MM MAF
Intake Elbow
TB w/ cruise control/throttle bracket
Cruise Control & Throttle Cables
Plenum
Blower
Mid Plate
Intercooler
Lower Intake Manifold
Intercooler Reservior
Intercooler Pump w/ brackets
Intercooler Hoses
H/E w/ bracket
Crank Pulley
Belt
Blower belt tensioner bracket
42# injectors
255lph fuel pump
Alternator
Alternator Bracket
EFans or Waterpump spacer

Misc bolts and hoses but for the most part that's it.

I have done 2 L blower swaps and work on L/HD a lot so if you have any questions feel free to PM me.

Check out Madenterprise.com for a even more detailed list. But there are a bunch of things in the list you don't really need.

Z7 what is correct. The lightning connecting rods were never forged, but their tensile strength is a bit stronger than that of a regular F150. Had a friend do some stress testing and write his thesis on this. Unless you are going over 450rwhp or drive like an idiot the rods should be fine. The bottom end of a lightning is its strong point, some of the older models 99-00 had forged cranks while the 01-04's had a very strong cast cranks. Both seem to do fine under the FI. Unless you plan on going over 6-8lbs of boost you shouldnt need new rods.

Before I rebuilt my enginge, I also thought the L's rods were forged. So I can def see why ColtRice17 thought so.

To clarify on the comments above, the lightning engine uses hypereutectic pistons which net lower compression. They are stronger than the cast pistons in the N/A engine. Otherwise both engines are identical.

I'll paste in the complete swap list for you... It's alot more than just the blower. This does not include some minor parts, but is otherwise comprehensive.

Complete swap parts
1. Supercharger
2. Intake manifold
3. Intercooler - upgraded
4. Throttle body
5. Injectors 42#
6. Oil separator (recommended)
7. Wiring harness
8. Bracket with idlers and special bolts
9. Tensioner Assembly
10. Lightning Alternator
11. Alternator Stabilizer Bracket
12. Intercooler Pump and Pigtail (Bracket NLA)
13. Intercooler Reservoir with Cap
14. IAC Tube
15. Throttle Cable
16. Throttle Cable Bracket
17. Cruise Control Cable
18. IAT Sensor
19. Water Pump Spacer
20. PCV Tube (left hand side)
21. TB to MAF Rubber Connector with clamps
22. 90mm MAF
23. Heat exchanger
24. OE Heat Exchanger Brackets (optional)
25. Intake Gasket Set
26. Upgraded In-Tank Fuel Pump -1x Walbro 255 lph
27. Upper Radiator Hose
28. Upper Two Intercooler Hoses
29. Original Equipment Installation Bolts
30. Drive Pulley with Belt (Boost level of your choice)
31. Lightning Fan Shroud (optional)
32. Plastic Solenoid Cover (optional)
33. Air filter snorkel assembly
34. Dyno tune

4x4dave do you happen to have the pdf of your dyno run or anything online. I would love to check it out. I just dropped by KB 2.2 in favor of a different set up. What boost were you running?
