Yes the tube comes out of the intake so I don't understand why you wouldn't be able to replace it. How can I make sure that the pcv inside the valve cover is still good?

Do you have any symptoms indicating it's bad...?

Well not sure if this is pcv related but I have noticed the past few oil changes that I have had a loss of about 1.5 litres of oil. Also I'm noticing kind of a whistle/humming from the engine. And when colder outside I am getting quite a bit of moisture buildup on the oil cap. Even though i take a longer trip with the truck at least once a week so the engine get to temperature and holds the temperature for a while to try and get rid of excess moisture.

Sounds more like you need a compression test.

A cracked head could also take in water from the water pump. I agree with the compression test.

If I had a cracked head I'd more than likely have to constantly add coolant to the engine. The truck runs perfectly fine other than some moisture collecting during the cold months. If it was a cracked head is have a moisture issue all year long

True, I didn't notice it was only happening during the cold months.
