Hey guys. I have a 2006 F-150 FX4 5.4L. Not really sure if this is a stupid question or not but not really sure what this is or what exactly it does. I have heard that it could be some sort of heated pcv but I don't see how it could act as a pcv if it's a straight through tube. Pretty sure the heating element in it is burnt out too. I get an open when I hook it up to my multimeter. I have tried a parts search with the numbers on the part but no luck. Any help would be great. Thanks cdf7b

It's the heated pcv tube. It is supposed to be open the actual "valve" is built into the valve cover. Below a certain temperature the PCM turns on the heater to keep it from freezing up.

Here's the annoying part: You can't replace just that. I tried. You can only buy the whole intake manifold, and that part is a piece of that package.

Yep. When it comes time, that's the first place I'm going to go. I'll bet it'll work just fine even if it comes off a 250 with the 5.4. I wasn't in the spot where I "needed" to replace it, just wanted to because I was there and thought, wth, it's gotta be cheap and has over 100kmi on it...

Nothing aftermarket that you can replace it with? In gonna say mine is no good since it tested open and I am getting condensation build up on the oil cap in the winter time.

If there is, I didn't find it. Course I only checked Rock Auto.

You'll get condensation buildup if the engine doesn't get to full operating temp and stay there often (i.e. at least once or twice a week). Not necessarily a PCV heater problem.

My truck usually gets up to operating temp. I start early in the winter before work and take a longer drive usually at least once a week

So just got off the phone with a Ford parts guy and he is saying that the actual pcv valve is built into the valve cover. So you have to change the whole valve cover just to change the pcv??? Is this true? Has anyone else dealt with this?

I just said that... well, sort of. I said intake manifold. Either way the valve itself is in the valve cover (very interesting looking). The valve is permanent and shouldn't need replacing. The heater tube is part of the intake manifold, if I remember correctly.
