Unhappy Transmission Shifts at low RPM's

I just bought a 2007 f150 lariat with a 5.4 auto. The truck runs great but it seems that the tranny shifts at low rpm's which causes the truck to chug abit till you give it gas or let off the gas, then it will downshift and be fine. It just seems to want to shift into the next gear while the rpms are too low. what would cause this? anyone else have this problem? Anything i can do?

A programmer would help ya a ton. If you plan on keeping the rig stock look into the Edge Evolution. I had it on my 05 and it made a world of difference in driving characteristics. If you think that sometime down the road you may add a CAI or exhaust system check out the Gryphon made by power hungry proformance or an Xcal2

it has a flowmaster exhaust system on it now
what will the programmer help the truck to do shift at higher rpms?
not shift into O/D until a certain speed?
is this the only remedy for my problem?

20 inch wheels
after more driving, it feels like the motor is missing, so im thinking its a plug or COP. but im getting no error code, but ive read on the forums that sometime its not bad enough to set off a code yet!! any way to test each cylinder?

get a new COP and check them one by one by replacing them with the new one and moving to the next one if it runs the same, if it solves your problem youve found the bad one, time consuming but the most effective way

That is a known issue, and it's in the tune. A hand held tuner can help by allowing adjustments of shift points. I doubt it's in the engine.

You state you have a 2007, which I couldn't find any TSB's with this issue. But here is a TSB for 05/06 models that sounds similar to what you have going on. I've listed all TSB's, which some have been superseded by another.

I had this one performed on my 2006, but was more dealing with a 4-3 gear change than at lower speeds.
