Again, I only offer an opinion as to placing a light bar in an opening designed for airflow. Many folks live in northern climates that don't see summer temps and humidity levels that reach what are seen in the south; this I'm sure plays a factor if you'd experience higher operating temps when towing or not.
I've gone the route of installing a sandwich plate at the oil filter so I could place an engine oil cooler at the lower opening to aid in keeping the engine oil/engine cooler as well. I see that Ford offers one now in the 3.5 and 5.0, but it uses the engine coolant (lower radiator hose has "T's" to connect it to) to cool the oil. I looked into this for my 4.6, but it would not fit.

Hey Bucko. What brand engine oil cooler did you use? I to frequently pull a 6k TT so I need all the air flow I can get. Over memorial weekend temps were in the 90s and I was averaging 190-195 and I hit 205 when I was backing it in to the camp site.

Excellent kit; has everything you'll need. Be sure to leave at least a one inch space between the oil cooler and condensor. I fabbed a bracket using angle iron to the hood pin vertical bracket.
At the same time, I removed the useless coin holder thing in the dash (if you have a 4x4, you'll have your switch there), and installed an oil pressure gauge. The sender was installed inline with one of the hoses that runs from the sandwich to the oil cooler; oil sender was mounted by the cooler.

Lightbar in the lower grill opening absolutely blocks airflow to the transmission cooler, I've got the edge programmer readout and when your pushing it, temps will climb well over 200 on a hot day, 30c. Relocate the cooler if you really want to, when I go camping pulling around 8000lb when loaded up, and closer to 9000 if I take the quad and riding gear, wanted the lightbar for the backroads so made it all work together. With it relocated , and larger transmission pan installed barely touch 200, cruises at 100km/hr right around 170-185f. Also, light bar mounted from the bottom, just get some pipe nipples and bolts from hardware store and lift it up. Worked well now all together for 3 years. https://www.f150forum.com/f55/transm...4/#post4365746
