LED Bedlights

It took me quite a while to find the right wire in my 2014 Lariat, too. But it is purple/grey. Initially, I was a little bit confused with the very good info from earlier in this thread. I easily found the hole in the bottom of the rocker panel and was trying to find the wire by fishing up through that hole. After a while I realized I could access the wires much more easily by removing the plastic diamond plate trim cover on the top of the rocker panel. DUH!! Once I did that I had easy access to all the wires laying in the conduit which carries them to the back of the truck. After that it was just a matter of gently poking the 3 or 4 wires which looked like they might be purple/grey with a test light and turning the interior lights on/off to see whether the wire was hot/cold in sync with the lights. One thing I seem to remember was that a couple of the potential matches, which turned out to not be the right wires, were twisted together with another wire. I guessed they were speaker wires run in pairs. The right wire is not twisted together with another wire. Hope that helps.

I appreciate the Info guys, but the wires are already run to the Drivers side rear Door, I had run my locking tailgate wire there already and just piggybacked through my sleeves with it. I was hoping somebody connected on the drivers side of a 14 front or back at this point.
for my 2014 footwell lights i had to use the purple wire on the passanger's side
post #10 helped me - pretty sure that's the same one you want

I like the idea of these longer strips better than the ones I bought a long time ago. I wired mine into the cargo light (gray / purple stripe inside driver's kick panel) so they turn on when I unlock the truck or open the door. Mine are plenty bright but the extra would be nice gravy.

Could someone help me with my bed light wiring? I'm thinking of using a door switch for the tailgate to operate the bed light, but also have a switch in the bed that would turn the lights on with the tailgate up as well as kill all power (for when I don't want them on when the tailgate is down). I'm thinking a SPDT switch would work with the door switch inline with one of the throws, but I'm not 100% positive on the correct way to wire it up (diagram-wise).
Something like for the rocker switch in the bed and similar to http://www.colehersee.com/home/item/cat/161/9006/ for the tailgate switch. Would I need a single or double post tailgate switch?

This thread needs more pics.
Here's what I have in my 2005. 16 foot roll of LED was $8 from amazon and I used a 16mm round rocker that perfectly fits in the top hole at the end of the bed. Very useful when camping.
