Again , they're not going to hook the truck up to read the EMC, BCM, Etc... For a noise from the Hub, Brakes, Rear end, window motor, lock actuator , not working properly.

If it's a transmission , engine problem , I can see them hooking it up to a reader. If not , I wouldn't worry.

No but they may hook it up to give an update, or just to see. They don't have to ask your permission to do it either, so they can check anytime. And if you do happen to have an issue with your powertrain, you're screwed. Also, I think hubs fall under powertrain but I'm not 100% sure.

If they were to check and do the update , it wouldn't matter because the tune was removed , the truck would update without any issues. They wouldn't even notice , it's a tech paid $14-$22 per hour. Most aren't real scholars , if you follow most threads on you'd realize this.

They can't remember to clean up oil or put on an oil cap. Hell , skid plates confuse most of them.

I don't have a tune on my 2.7 , so I don't care either way , I'm just saying I've done mods on other vehicles and they've warrantied them without question.

On the newer PCMs, tunes leave trails.

Correct even flashed back to OEM Factory settings there is a trace--the ECM records each time it is flashed--so just flashing to stock or removing a flash trip does not hid it from the manufacturer. So if you ever reprogrammed the ECM the service techs will see it.

I know it leaves a trail. They can see it was flashed. what was flashed , they'll never know for sure. The only way to tell is to pull the PCM and compare all lines of code to a stock PCM. I don't think they're going to go through all of that trouble while updating the truck. That's a waste of time to even worry about that event recorded on the PCM.

With that said, if you want a tune get one, the consequences are something you have to deal with. Peoples opinions and feelings about the matter are not something you should base your purchase on. If you're lucky you'll get 250k miles without any problems untuned. On the same token if you're lucky with a tune you'll get the same 250k miles.

Total BS! There is a lot of information in the PCM that is directly accessible!
