Default Adding Hill Descent Control to non-FX4 trucks

** This post was updated on 5/14/18

For those interested: today I successfully added Hill Descent Control to my 4x4 that normally only comes with the FX4. This mod consists of adding an $8 combination Hill Descent/Traction control switch and a single change to the ABS module via FORScan. The new switch is plug and play to the existing connector. I enabled it on my Platinum without any DTCs, tested this driving and it works flawlessly.

The part I installed is: http://www.tascaparts.com/oe-ford/fl3z13d730ha.

After installation of the switch, pressing it did nothing until the change in FORScan when messages on cluster started showing up.

Below is what I changed with FORScan.
ABS Module:
760-03-01 x*xx xx If you have 0 for asterisk make it 2, if 4 make it 6, if 8 make A, if C make E. (ignore whatever is where the x's are and just put the "2" in the appropriate position ** When writing the change FORScan will give a message about incorrect checksum but ignore that and continue with the write (FORScan will automatically write the correct checksum anyways)

** 2018s: ABS 760-03-01 *xxx xx if your as-built is 0, use 2, if your as-built is 1, use 3. if your as-built is D, use F

Awesome! Looks like the new switch is a slightly different shape around the corners? What is the part number of the one you have?

The switch I have now has like rounded corners instead of cut corners so that's what's preventing it from sitting in flush. The left side of my current switch isn't seating in the cutout because of this (pics of current switch below). I now have 2 switches on order: 1 from Fordparts.com and 1 from Tasca so I'll confirm which is best upon arrival.

Hill descent control allows the driver to set and maintain vehicle speed while descending steep grades in various surface conditions in the 2-20 mph speed range

Hey that switch is the one that fits in the center console. Lol. THIS is a cupholder I got that is from a Platinum. The switch in there now is for lane departure, BUT that switch you have will fit this. Oh btw, I ordered my new HDC switch also...lol
