Default air filter location for heat/ac system?

i have an '87 long box xlt lariat and was wondering if these things have an intake air filter on the heat/ac system somewhere. the fan blows like it should but just doesn't move much air and thinking stopped up filter somewhere. just not seeing one without tearing out dash. thanks!

There's no filter on them. There's only a screeen at the cowl below the wiper arms.. Does the air flow change from floor air to defrost air? If not you might have a vacuum leak.

no vacuum leak. it moves from defrost to dash to floor with no problem. fan just doesn't move a whole lot of air volume. it does well on recirc, just not on fresh. maybe it's the way it is supposed to be, just doesn't seem like much air volume coming thru the vents.

The cowl and intake into the interior is probably clogged with leaves.

If u dont see any leaves on the ouside , it might be plug inside. all the leaves and other material that pass the screen gets to the Heater core and A/C condenser blocking the air flow, you might have to open it to make sure they are clean. I done that couple times.

sorry for the late reply. thanks, i will probably open it up next weekend, maybe. sure does look clean down behind the screen so it must be on the inside.
