Default Check valve question

Hey Guys,
I just bought a 91 supercab with the 351. I have fuel leaking from the top of the tank. When I dropped the tank, I saw that fuel was leaking from some metal tube attached to the metal fuel line coming from the strainer. What is this? can I just run the fuel line to the metal line from the fuel pump?

Also, I have to replace that pump (the center tank). I wouldn't mind replacing the whole unit (pump, strainer, float) is there someplace that sell this unit as a whole for a reasonable price? Best I have found is 300+

Thanks!

Matt

good luck finding one for a decent price..I need a pump and sending unit as well. I dropped the tank today to replace just the pump to find out that the wires on the sending unit connector are broken and the float has a hole in it. Cant buy just the float either. I am thinking of just doing away with the front tank and capping off the 2 metal lines and the vent hose from the rear tank.

I thought about that as well but the truck is going to be used for towing my racecar and I didn't want to be stopping every two hours for gas.

I found this part on Rockauto:
SPECTRA PREMIUM Part # SP34B1H

it says that it comes with the fuel pump, sender, etc. anyone think this is what I need? Don't want to buy it if its the wrong part.

What about that odd metal pipe added onto the fuel pump hard line? any ideas? The guys at NAPA looked at me like I was a two headed alien.
