Ceramic Brake Pads

Lmao, I went through a phase a couple years ago where I drove 100 pretty much everywhere on the highway. Got to the point where I started getting road ragey because people around here can't grasp the concept of left lane for passing, move over if not. Now I don't hardly even speed. Just cruise along with traffic and enjoy my truck.
I usually cruise the center lane 74-76 mph..Not very many gen 10's pass me. I pass plenty of them and they all have manifold leaks.
But yea, they are crazy here as well. Lead car in the fast lane doing 100 plus and chain of followers just behind. Once in awhile I'll grab the fast lane, just to watch all the birdies behind me...quite beautiful.

So these trucks will do 100 ? I was referring to heat, in case you mis read.

This pic is a couple years old. I was driving real late headed to a job. Nobody on the road. Drove like this for almost a solid 3 hours. Minus stopping for fuel. I think I was getting around 8-9 mpg.

Ceramic are less conductive, they dont
1) have as much stopping friction as semi-metallic =LESS HEAT. Friction=heat
2) conduct the heat as well from rotor. This is where a higher ROTOR / pad surface temp can occur, even with less stopping friction
But a less conductive pad cannot raise caliper temp and adversely affect seals, its actually conducting less heat that way, which is why the rotor/pad gets hotter. The more conductive semi-metallic would be more prone to heating seals
These reasons are why the heavy haulers use semi metallic, better stopping, cooler rotors.
Some heavy duty pads have insulating layer designed to prevent transfer heat to calipers. But this also will increase rotor and pad temps. Cant have it all, heat got to go somewhere if you make it. If you make too much heat, you need larger brakes to dissipate it to air to keep temps down. No way around it .
With severly worn pads, yeah..higher caliper temps.
I seriously doubt 10 F ambient temp difference of a 100F day has any significant impact compared to up to 400F temps experienced in sustained braking. Ok, it has 10/300=3% effect in cooling ability.

Man, that Green makes me happy Brew.
..I've also had a manifold leak since the day I bought the truck, lol. I don't care much, it's only heard when it's cold and I'll fix it when I build the new motor. My theory on the truck is, don't do anything that'll make my headaches worse and don't try to make more Horsepower till I build a real engine.
I'll probably never use Ceramics again. I used them because I bought the new wheels and I wanted to keep them clean from dust but I can feel the stopping ability is worse and they chatter at the the tail end of every time I have to brake hard and then lift easy.

Pics came out huge? Sorry bout that.
I should off them I expect. If you would like the Green paint link let me know.

Sure send the link along, I think most browsers resize pictures to make them picture smaller based on the sites presets.
