Default Are you doing any maintence on your power running boards?

Just wondering if anyone is doing anything to help keep their power boards in good shape. I'm worried about the 5 month onslaught of salt coming ahead.

Thanks

i just keep em clean when i wash the truck. That's it. When the weather gets bad i go to the car wash alot to blow off the salt and grime.

I have the after market Amp Research Running Boards. I do check the tightness of the bolts holding the boards to the brackets when I change my oil.

I was wondering this as well. Does anyone know if there is any recommended lubrication schedule and recommended lube?

I have had the power running boards since my 2009 F150 Platinum.
I still have it, along with a new 2016 Limited.
The only "preventive maintenance" I do is wash the running boards when I wash the truck.
Have had zero issues over the 7 years with power running boards.

I get the idea of washing them often to keep them clean. But I don't exactly have a car wash at the end of my driveway. There are times there is no avoiding the solid frozen gunk.

I foresee the boards either not going down at all or partially, and then not going up or getting stuck somewhere in the middle, be cause of some stalagmite -10f ice chunks.

I am wondering about just disabling them for the winter? Lube them up good, unplug them and then cover the wires good. Spring time plug them in.

You can disable them in the vehicle menu. Supposedly if the outside temp is below a certain point they self disable. Dealer claims.....

BS unless the number is really, really low. Mine have worked as low as -38C.

This is my third truck with them. As mentioned, clean them out when you wash the truck. never had a problem.

Those of us with the power deployable running boards have learned how messy they can get when either the weather or the terrain get ugly.

I highly recommend getting mudflaps/splashguards for your front tires. You can see in the attached picture what a great job they do of keeping the grime off of my running boards.
