The Official 3.3L V6 Workhorse Thread
You're the only one here talking about a "poverty vehicle". No idea why.
I also have no idea what power brakes, power steering, mirrors, windows, locks, or ABS have to do with the engine's performance.
It's good to hear you are happy with the performance levels of 26 years ago, though. Technology is the devil.

...I responded to you quoting a 0-60 time for a RCSB 4x2, as in, to attempt to prove your point, you started talking about the acceleration of the shortest smallest lightest configuration possible. That is telling. It's also telling to solely compare to 25+ year old vehicles and engines.
If you have to compare to a 1983 with 136 horsepower or quote 0-60 for an empty unloaded regular cab short bed 4.2 to make it look good...
But, to the point of the thread you referenced, how is it towing a 20' travel trailer with the family on board? Were they asking about a SCREW or a 4x4, or a 2WD RCSB single occupancy?

I agree 100%, the engine isn't gutless at all. I think a lot of people just judge the engine based on how that power is delivered rather than its raw, wide-open throttle performance. In my experience the 3.3 makes you rev the sh*t out of it before it hits that powerband and really gets moving.
I said this in another post where someone was arguing the same situation, 99.99999% of people are buying these as daily drivers whether it be for work or just day to day life so the "raw wide open throttle performance" and "revving the ****" out of their engines is the least of their worries

I think a lot of people are just spoiled by the EcoBoost power levels now and that's what makes the V6 seem "gutless", as you say. I am sure the motor makes plenty of power, but just delivers it differently.
Again, had one of these on a rental and was very pleased with its performance and gas mileage. Its a simple setup and likely one that would give little trouble over the long term. Have driven worse base engine vehicles than this one, for me...it gets a thumbs up!
