I prefer the spray in (I always go with Line-X), have had it on my 08 & my 13, but I also use my truck bed for hauling mulch, gravel at times, hauling debris from home projects, all sorts of random stuff during the summers...all of this because I usually need my 6.5'x10' utility trailer AND the bed to minimize trips, lol.

If your use will be less abusive (kinda sounds like it is), you can probably get by with the cheaper options others have mentioned.

I also prefer spray in. But I had a drop in on my 2011 Silverado for 3 years and it did just fine. It was definitely alot more slick than spray in. But protected just fine for my needs, which sound alot like yours. No problems with water under the drop in or anything like that. My kids and labrador like the spray-in grip lots better when playing back there (not while driving of course). I too appreciate the grip when getting in and out to unload mulch and such.

I must admit that I am having second thoughts about not getting it done at the time of purchase as the going price according to the shops I've spoken to is $550.

I've had plastic drop-in liners in my last two trucks. No issues that I'm aware of, but they did rub the paint. I never pulled them out to look, but I don't believe it caused any problems.

I picked up a new F150 a few weeks ago and decided to go with a spray in this time (Line-X). I have to say, I like the look a lot better and I don't think things will slide around as much.

Either one will do a good job of protecting the bed. I wonder if the plastic liner would protect better against dents from things falling over or being dropped. Any opinions about that?

I paid $375 for Rhino Liner and it looks and feels great. I would keep calling around.

Yeah the best price I could find for Line-X was $500. Not worth the extra $125 for what I needed the liner for. Plus the Rhino guy was closer and more flexible with his hours.

I'll throw in for the spray in liner.
I've had both and I've beat them both up.
To me, the spray in looks better.
After beating them up, the spray in looks like it was a work truck.
The drop in looked like a beat up drop in that wore the paint off.
You can see the wear near the edges.
Up to you if cost is a primary issue, looks or something else.

I got the line-x premium in my truck after living with the drop in for a year. No comparison IMHO.
